Tru-Serve Partners With Emerge Works to Provide Workforce Education and Training in the Twin Cities
Tru-Serve is helping unemployed Twin Cities area job applicants get the training they need to land jobs. In a unique partnership with Emerge Works in Minneapolis, Tru-Serve will be providing no-cost maintenance technician training to participants in the non-profit’s workforce training program.
What Emerge Works Does
Emerge Works is a non-profit staffing service dedicated to providing workforce training and other services to unemployed individuals. The organization focuses on four areas: Workforce, Supportive Housing, Business Ventures and Community Development. Emerge Works and Tru-Serve will be working together in the Workforce area to provide maintenance technician training and placement.
Under the umbrella of Workforce Development, Emerge Works has 15 programs that serve nearly 3,000 individuals. Participants have the opportunity to gain workforce skills and training and then to use those skills to build resumes and apply for jobs. The organization offers: Training, Adult Job Placement Programs, Youth Employment Programs and Wrap Around Programs for Workforce participants.
Tru-Serve first became involved with Emerge Works by hiring maintenance technicians who had been trained through the non-profit. Soon afterwards, Tru-Serve saw an opportunity to give back to the Twin Cities community by partnering with Emerge Works to further develop their maintenance technician training programs and curriculum.
The partnership is a completely new and unique approach to workforce development wherein Tru-Serve will provide maintenance technician training for Emerge Works at no cost. After students have completed their classroom training, Tru-Serve offers an internship program that provides on-the-job training for participants. Once the coursework and internship have been completed, Tru-Serve will be available to help place participants as maintenance technicians, either within Tru-Serve itself or in other companies and organizations.
Tru-Serve’s Vice President, Troy Norberg, will serve on Emerge Works Board for Business Development where he will help design training materials, develop curriculum and identify resources for the maintenance technician program. This will ensure the students are receiving the most current knowledge, information and training needs required of maintenance technicians.
Tru-Serve’s Hillyard Partnership Will Play A Role Too
Tru-Serve has long had a partnership with Hillyard to provide cleaning products and services to Tru-Serve clients throughout the Twin Cities. Expanding their commitment to Emerge Works and the workforce training work that the organization offers, Tru-Serve has called upon Hillyard to help Emerge Staffing develop a training program for cleaning services. With help from Hillyard, Emerge Works and Tru-Serve will be able to implement a cleaning program similar to the maintenance program that is already being offered.
Participants in the cleaning program will attend training classes developed in partnership with Tru-Serve and Hillyard. Once those classes have been completed, participants can apply for a Tru-Serve cleaning internship and ultimately may find placement for full-time work with Tru-Serve.
Specialty classes are being developed for the program’s top performers. As part of the specialty training, students may be placed with other non-profit organizations in the area to gain new and different cleaning experiences.
Tru-Serve’s Commitment To Community
By providing these educational, training and internship services to Emerge Staffing at no cost, Tru-Serve is giving back to the community by creating new opportunities for individuals who may previously have had none. Through improved education and training, these individuals will be better equipped to enter the workforce with the skills they need to find and maintain employment, ultimately supporting the key goals of Emerge Works: eliminating homelessness, promoting self-sufficiency, and creating economic activity and wealth.
Tru-Serve is proud to be partnering with Emerge Works in this innovative and exciting job training and educational program.
